COOKING LEVEL: noob beginner standard

This recipe lets your oven do all the work but requires a few preparations.

Serving Size: 15-20 tacos Total Cooking Time: 1 hr.

INGREDIENTS

Marination

  • 1/3 cup olive oil

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp pepper

  • 1 lb carne asada aka flap meat

  • 1 bunch of cilantro

Taco Assembling

  1. Preheat the oven to 425F.

  2. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper or cooking oil.

  3. In a small bowl, mix all the seasonings + sauces.

  4. Rub the marination into the giant flap meat, both sides.

  5. Bake for 20 min, flipping at the 10min. mark.

  6. Let cool while you prep any guac + pico de gallo.

  7. When the meat is a little cool, chop into bite size pieces.

  8. Cook the tortillas with cheese to serve.

  9. Scoop a little meat into each tortilla.

  10. Serve with toppings.

Recipe Notes:

  • Flap meat is the same meat used for carne asada tacos. It's tender, chewy, and flavorful.

  • When cooking the tortillas, I like to use a skillet a high heat, flip once, sprinkle the cheese to melt, then place the shrimp on top.
